The 4th Bridge

There used to be, as you probably know, three bridges on the Grand Canal : the Scalzi bridge, the Rialto (the oldest and only one for centuries) and the wooden Academia bridge. This new glass and stone arch, called Calatrava bridge (after its architect) or the 4th bridge, has for official name Constitution Bridge (Ponte della Constituzione). Opened in September 2008, it spans the Grand Canal from Piazzale di Roma to Santa Lucia train station.
