(en) Carmen works the graveyard shift in one of Tijuana’s maquiladoras, the multinationally-owned factories that came to Mexico for its cheap labor. After making television components all night, Carmen comes home to a shack she built out of recycled garage doors, in a neighborhood with no sewage lines or electricity. She suffers from kidney damage and lead poisoning from her years of exposure to toxic chemicals. She earns six dollars a day. But Carmen is not a victim. She is a dynamic young woman, busy making a life for herself and her children.
As Carmen and a million other maquiladora workers produce televisions, electrical cables, toys, clothes, batteries and IV tubes, they weave the very fabric of life for consumer nations. They also confront labor violations, environmental devastation and urban chaos -- life on the frontier of the global economy. In MAQUILAPOLIS, Carmen and her colleague Lourdes reach beyond the daily struggle for survival to organize for change: Carmen takes a major television manufacturer to task for violating her labor rights. Lourdes pressures the government to clean up a toxic waste dump left behind by a departing factory.
As they work for change, the world changes too: a global economic crisis and the availability of cheaper labor in China begin to pull the factories away from Tijuana, leaving Carmen, Lourdes and their colleagues with an uncertain future.

Pracuje zde více než milion lidí, často za mizivou mzdu a v nevyhovujících pracovních podmínkách. Dynamická Carmen spolu se skupinou žen z Tijuany se rozhodne nahlas vyslovit otázku svých zaměstnaneckých práv a dalších problémů, s nimiž se denně setkává. Svou činnost průběžně natáčí na video. Tvůrci filmu zdařile prokládají tyto strohé záznamy stylizovanými poetickými pasážemi a vytvářejí tak velmi osobní snímek.
(en) (translator) Zanon's owner, an Italian who began doing business during the last military dictatorship and continued for all democratic governments, decided to leave out of work more than half of its employees on the grounds of: the country's crisis. Under its terms, or drastically reducing staff or closing the factory. In October 2001, the Zanon workers took the decision to continue producing without the bosses. The economic results were successful (sales growth, creation of new jobs) and political scope of what seemed like an adventure, more extensive than one might think. Incalcaterra records the organization of the workers inside the factory and the evolution of the legal dispute out of it. The self does not seem a bad idea after all.

(sk) (translator) Zanon majiteľ, Talian, ktorý začal obchodovať počas poslednej vojenskej diktatúry a pokračoval pre všetky demokratické vlády, sa rozhodol odísť z práce viac než polovicu svojich zamestnancov, z toho dôvodu, kedy: v krajine krízy. V jeho rámci, alebo výrazne znížiť zamestnancami, alebo uzatvorenie továrne. V októbri 2001, pracovníci Zanonu sa rozhodli pokračovať vo výrobe bez šéfov. Hospodárske výsledky boli úspešné (rast tržieb, tvorba nových pracovných miest) a politický rozsah toho, čo sa zdalo ako dobrodružstvo, rozsiahlejšie, než by sa mohlo zdať. (en) This documentary addresses the legacy of the military dictatorship in Chile by sharing the story of combatant youth who were killed by the Pinochet regime as a backdrop to the history of the military dictatorship and current social conflict in the area. The larger story is wrapped around three shorter pieces, which explore the student movement, the history of neighborhoods that became centers of armed resistance against the dictatorship, and the indigenous Mapuche conflict. The filmmakers, militant film collective Subversive Action Films, question their relationship to the documentary, taking a position as combatants.

Flor and her people put Colombia's constitutional indigenous autonomy into practice and strive to create a territory free of armed fighters.
In their recent report, "Sweet Words, Air of Life", the National Indigenous Organization of Colombia (ONIC) notes that all 102 distinct Indigenous Peoples in Colombia "are at risk of disappearing" because of the ongoing conflict between Colombia's armed forces and paramilitary groups like the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC).
32 of these people are a particular concern, says ONIC, "due to the fact that they have a population of less than 500 people, the majority concentrated in the regions of Amazonía and Orinoquía. Of these 32 peoples, 18 have a population of less than 200 people, and 10 are composed of less than 100 individuals."
Within this context, on January 26, 2009, the Constitutional Court of Colombia issued a Decree on behalf of the indigenous peoples, in which it was concluded that the indigenous peoples "are in danger of becoming physically and culturally extinct." The decree ordered the national government to implement a Program that guarantees the Human Rights for all the Indigenous Peoples.
To date, the government has failed to create such a program.

(es) Defender los Bosques: La lucha de los campesinos ecologistas de guerrero La Deforestación de los Bosques de la Sierra Petalán y Coyutla de Catatlán, en Guerrero, data desde 1950. En el gobierno de Rubén Figueroa se incremento la tala junto con la militarización y represión de las comunidades. Inicia, la explotación de miles de kilómetros de bosques dejando a su paso desierto. En 1998 surge la organización de Campesinos Ecologistas de la Sierra de Petatlán, con el objetivo de parar la tala de los Bosques. Un ano después Rodolfo y Teodoro miembros de la OCE, son detenidos y torturados a raíz de la ola de persecución y represión que han sufrido los ecologistas.
(en) A Chiapas Media Project that documents the deforestation of Guerrero's Petatlan and Coyuca de Catálan mountain ranges from the 1950's onwards and the accompanying militarization and repression of Guerrero's rural communities. This documentary tells the story of the Organisation of Campesino Environmentalists (O.C.E) and their struggle to defend their land in the face of a repressive military.
The deforestation of Guerrero's Petatlán and Coyuca de Catalán mountain ranges dates back to the 1950's. In the 1970's, under then-governor Ruben Figueroa Figueroa logging increased, accompanied by militarization and repression of Guerrero's rural communities. In 1994, with the signing of NAFTA, the transnational Boise Cascade Corporation began what resulted in the exploitation of thousands of kilometers of virgin forests, leaving in its wake deserts.
Defending the Forests is the story of the Organization of the Campesino Environmentalists (OCE) created in 1998, and their success in halting Boise Cascade's exploitation of their forests. The video describes, through the members of the O.C.E., the Mexican government's campaign to destroy the O.C.E. with the arrest and torture by the Mexican Military of O.C.E. co-founders Rodolfo Montiel and Teodoro Cabrera. Both were recently sentenced to prison terms of seven and 10 years on false charges of weapons and drug trafficking for their courageous activism in defense of the forests.

At 6am today, Friday the 11th of December, an intense police operation began headed by the 'Bombing Investigation' Division with squatted social centers and private homes raided throughout the metropolitan region... Until now six spaces have been raided: 3 squatted buildings and 3 private residences, in the areas of Central Santiago, Macul, Renca, El Bosque and Recoleta. Corporate media reports that there are 12 people who are being detained, 8 of whom have been interrogated.
The raids were carried out by armed contingents of the PDI (Investigative Police Bureau) and the Carabineros (The National Police force). At the Sacco and Vanzetti Squatted Social Center and Library, located in central Santiago, 4 comrades have been detained and are being held incommunicado by the BIPE (special department of the investigative police). It appears that the Social Center was defended due to reports of the remains of many broken bottles scattering the streets in front of the building. Well known squats La Crota and La Idea and El Hogar were also raided by strong contingents of armed police. It is reported that the police took computer equipment, bikes, propaganda, and cell phones from all of the squats. From Liberacion Total: "We issue a call out for international solidarity! Stay alert, informed, and ready to fight! To our comrades from the social centers and squats: you are not alone, we understand and assume the consequences of declaring ourselves and acting as daily enemies of authority. Allanamientos y detenciones en Santiago, $hile A partir de las 6:00 de la mañana paralelamente carabineros y policía de investigaciones realizaron allanamientos a 4 Okupaciones y 2 viviendas particulares en Santiago. Los allanamientos se enmarcan dentro de la investigación del “Caso Bombazos”. Los allanmientos que comenzaron a las 6:00 de la mañana terminaron a eso del medio dia.
El Centro Social Okupado y Biblioteca Sacco y Vanzetti, ubicada en el centro de la capital, fue allanado por el equipo militarizado de la Policía de Investigaciones (armados con ametralladoras, escopetas y armas cortas), ante lo que lxs compañerxs de el CSO Sacco y Vanzetti dieron la pelea y se enfrentaron a los verdugos, lxs cuatro compañerxs fueron finalmente detenidxs y trasladadxs a la BIPE (Brigada de Investigaciones Policiales Especiales) por agredir a funcionarios. Desde esta casa fue incautado desde material de lectura, propaganda, bicicletas, telefonos moviles, pendrives, discos duros, etc…
Al mismo tiempo también fue allanada La Okupa La Idea, en el centro de la capital, siendo esta la 3º vez, a manos de carabineros con el GOPE (Grupo de Operaciones Policiales Especiales), Fuerzas Especiales y Labocar (Departamento de Criminalística), fuertemente armados. De La Idea se llevaron variedad de material como pendrives, discos duros, bicicletas, propaganda, etc… No se sabe de ningun detenidx en esta casa…
También en el centro de Santiago fue allanada La Okupa La Crota que también consta de una biblioteca llamada Centro de Documentación Anarkista Itinerante. Al lugar ingresaron funcionarios de carabineros (GOPE, Labocar, Fuerzas Especiales y agentes de civil) fuertemente armados con ametralladoras y armas cortas, lxs compañerxs que se encontraban defendieron el espacio y a ellxs mismxs, resultando 5 compañerxs detenidxs por maltrato a carabineros y trasladadxs a la 33 comisaria de Ñuñoa. Del lugar carabineros se llevo una gran cantidad de bicicletas, CD`s, pendrives, documentos de investigación, propaganda, discos duros, telefonos moviles, ect…

Desde aproximadamente las 6 am de hoy viernes 11 de diciembre, se inició un intenso operativo policial, en el marco de la Investigación por los Bombazos, de allanamiento a casas okupadas y domicilios particulares en la Región Metropolitana. Las palabras de Rosende y la presion de EMOL y COPESA surtieron efecto. Hasta el momento, seis inmuebles han sido allanados, tres okupaciones y tres domicilios particulares en un total de cinco comunas: Santiago Centro, Macul, Renca, El Bosque y Recoleta. los medios de información señalasn que van 12 detenidos, entre ellos ocho interrogados.
En el caso de las okupaciones, contingentes armados de la PDI y Carabineros han entrado al CSO y Biblioteca Sacco y Vanzetti ubicado en el centro de Santiago (sto domingo/bulnes). 4 compañerxs han sido detenidos y hasta el momento se encuentran secuestradxs en dependencias de la BIPE (departamento especial de la policia de investigaciones) Al parecer, lxs compañerxs dieron batalla a los mercenarios del orden por los restos de vidrio y botellas rotas que pudimos ver afuera de la casa. Ademàs, las casas ocupadas LA CROTA (santa isabel / lira), y LA IDEA (sotomayor/catedral) tambien recibieron los golpes del enemigo siendo allanadxs por un fuerte contingente armado. .
Como era de esperarse, debido a la hora de los acontecimientos, no habìa compañerxs afuera de las casas, encontrandose el perimetro aledaño a las casas acordonado por policias portando armas largas y camionetas, furgones y micros policiales. Sumamos a esto la presencia còmplice de la prensa que esperaba afuera como la lacra carroñera y difamadora que siempre ha sido, ademàs de la evidente vigilancia que policìas encubiertos realizaban y realizan aun en las inmediaciones haciendo controles de identidad a personas “sospechosas”. (Al menos en las inmediaciones de la Sacco y Vanzetti un auto azul tipo yaris realizaba controles, al tiempo que otros a pie se paseaban por las calles) . No sabemos si han entrado o entraràn a otros espacios, por eso llamamos a informar sobre los acontecimientos que puedan ocurrir
Estos hechos eran de esperarse,el contexto ya nos demostraba que tarde o temprano el enemigo emprenderia la caceria, sobre todo cuando nos encontramos con una nueva eleccion presidencial y el gobierno de turno quiere irse con resultados concretos a como de lugar sobre los ataques que se han estado perpetrando desde hace ya bastante tiempo.
Sin embargo, quedarnos indiferentes ante esta nueva arremetida represiva solo contribuirìa a fortalecer el aislamiento y neutralizaciòn de la ofensiva antiautoritaria que el poder necesita para aniquilar las ideas de acciòn contra la autoridad. Apoyar a lxs compañerxs es esencial para mantener su moral en alto y propagar la solidaridad como un arma en esta guerra a muerte contra toda forma de poder.

La ayudita mediatica necesaria
Los medios oficiales de información ya difunden la noticia, en el marco de las elecciones presidenciales y parlamentarias que se realizarán el día domingo 13 de este mes, en dos ´días más. por otra parte, el Gobierno ya celebra la operación, ordenada por el fiscal Francisco Jacir, y señalan esperar que la diligencia arroje resultados judiciales concretos contra los investigados.
Mientras se realizan los allanamientos, Perez Yoma dijo “Gracias a Dios los fiscales, finalmente, nos dieron las órdenes para poder hacerlo y vienen en un muy buen momento”, diciendo practicamente todo. Su presion sobre los fiscales dio resultado y especificamente como se ha dicho, en un “buen momento”, es decir, dias antes de las elecciones. Vale decir que si sumamos la presion de hace unas semanas a la siguiente declaracion efectuada por el mismo perro (Yoma) “lo que queremos justamente es ver, porque tenemos sospechas, que ahí pueden estar los atentados con bombas. Así que esperamos tener resultados efectivos” se traduce en que de los detenidos CUALQUIERA sera cargado con lo que sea e inculpado en lo que sea. La logica del poder es castigar y amedrentar, independiente de quien sea culpable. Lo que importa es el “efecto”. Hasta el momento la policia no ha dicho sobre ningun “artefacto explosivo” encontrado, pero no nos sorprendamos si en algunas horas aparece dinamita.
“La Tercera” dice: Según se informó, los últimos arrestados son interrogados por la policía uniformada para determinar su posible vinculación con la serie de atentados explosivos que han afectado al país.
El objetivo de esta diligencia es incautar materiales y así anular cualquier intento de instalación de este tipo de artefactos, que puedan afectar el normal desarrollo de la jornada cívica.
Como vemos, aqui tendra que caer alguien. Por otra parte, estan diciendo que para ello, algo tendran que encontrar bajo la excusa que seria usado el dia de las elecciones. Con esto no victimizamos a nadie, solo exponemos el funcionamiento del poder y el llamado a no solo solidarizar con los compas, sino saber que desde arriba estan desesperados. El enemigo solo puede recurrir a pateticas armas legales, amedrentamientos y culpar al que se le cruce con tal de dar una “señal”. Pero que sepan que no manejamos sus lenguajes ni codigos, sus mensajes de guerra son recepcionados no para rendirse. Esto ya comenzo y no parara hasta que el ultimo capitalista sea colgado con la tripa del ultimo burocrata. La guerra sigue.
Por ultimo, a lxs compas de los centros sociales y casas ocupadas: no estàn solxs, sabemos y asumimos las consecuencias de declararnos y actuar como enemigos cotidianos de la autoridad.Pero tambièn sabemos que la solidaridad entre compañeros es una practica que trasciende los muros de cualquier casa, jaula o paìs.
Con la frente en alto, ni victimas ni inocentes, A PROPAGAR LA GUERRA SOCIAL.
