(en) Archeology of Memory: Villa Grimaldi is a tremendously moving film about the Chilean exile community, and about music and the power of art to heal. Villa Grimaldi was a detention, torture and extermination centre run by Chile's DINA, (Dirección Nacional de Inteligencia Militar), the epicentre of Pinochet's state-sponsored terror from 1973 to 1990. Accomplished Bay-area musician Quique Cruz's journey back to this dark place in Chilean history proved to be quite a catalyst for reconciliation, and not just for himself. This journey cumulated in something truly extraordinary. Part of an art-piece that includes a musical suite, a book, a documentary film and a multimedia installation, the work gathers the art and the experiences of six artists. Poets, painters, writers, playwrights, musicians--they have each created a narrative in which they explore the contradictions of terror and aesthetics, the notion of pain and beauty and how to convert darkness into light.
(sk) Archeology of Memory: Villa Grimaldi je ohromne dojemný film o čílskej exilovej komunite, o hudbe a sile umenia liečiť.
